Strategic Futures for Multicultural Organization
In their own words, the Norwegian multinational corporation Aker Solutions is a leader in sustainable energy solutions, and a partner and creator of turnkey solutions. After splitting in two, creating Kværner – another multinational engineering and solutions corporation, they are currently 14,000 people in 20 countries.
We worked with a core company within this corporation, covering every aspect of management consulting. These are the words of the client, their President, mostly written enroute with a final edit here in 2019 – seeing the work we did together in a broader perspective.

Creating a Compelling Future
Below are two models unique to us, a sample of the many strategic futures approaches and insights we share with our clients.
Inspiring Strategic Change
Vision and ambition level set, what kind of change or transformation will you roll with? As made clear topside, successful change initiatives include and inspire the organization, and our facilitation makes that happen. We help the complex get more tangible, solving core issues. From a more cohesive place of agreement and solid direction, it's easier to create what will stand the test of time.
Bringing broad and deep experiences in solving issues, our ways are grounded in the sciences of leadership development, human behavior and emotional intelligence. One example is the "Integral Model" presented here. Combining many fields of knowledge, it is unique in how it distinguishes what is individual vs. collective, and what is internal vs. external. Each quadrant thus has a unique kind of impact, see the Grand Strategy page for client examples. This model, simplified or expanded, has value in broadening the conversation, in being a strategic checklist and in helping us see how different initiatives connect, and how they impact each other. The four integral quadrants cover what is:
To create strategically integrated solutions, we must be aware of the various impacts within and between all four quadrants. Conducting change in chiefly one quadrant, like a new headquarters, lower right, often have ramifications in other areas that we don't always foresee. Conducting a more informed change initiative, it becomes easier to assess all impacts and factors beforehand.

The original 'Integral Model' is by Ken Wilber at Integral Institute.

The Power of Responsibility
The president, CEO and country manager job, is a lonely position. There's hardly a more responsible one, and, more importantly, not a more influential position in allowing the best of the organisation to rise forth, or to hold it back. Nature tells us that enabling flow, is the better way.
|
|
It holds great value in seeing and reflecting on, how you can enable more of the inherent capacity in your organisation.
Enabling team and individual potential, empowers strategy, culture and all your decision making. That's the cascades of strategic leadership taken responsibly. Working together, we will enable clarity to even your most complex issues. Solving those, you can focus on what you're best at; nurturing the organisation or venturing into landing the most strategic deals. |
Case Study: Military StrategyThe word Strategy comes from the military and means an overall plan on how to win the war. The best military strategies are those that help us win whilst avoiding bloodshed. Here is an example:
As senior military strategist, our CEO crafted a strategy that helped prepare the nation of Norway for what was coming in new threaths, realities and opportunities, to improve national security. This strategy broke through a stalemate that was keeping the military looking backwards, by painting a believable future. The work also reached out to other national security agencies, and initiated a strategic agency collaboration for the first time. The chief assessor for military strategy said: |
CEO Learnings from the Deepwater Horizon Disaster A multiyear client of ours provided the Command & Control ships for the joint US Coast Guard and BP efforts in closing the Macondo runaway-well, which blew on April 20th, 2010. The two AMC vessels, BOA SUB C & BOA DEEP C, became instrumental in the closing which completed three months later. This worst oil spill in history, also called the BP Oil Spill Disaster, led to the highest settlement in history: USD 20 billion. There is much to learn from this case, on strategy, leadership, operational safety and values. We offer some CEO Learnings to consider, with images and an eyewitness article. Read more >> |
